One Sweet Slice

Every week we get requests for custom cupcakes for birthdays. The cupcakes can be customized in many different ways. Some just want the colors to look a certain way, others want the year they are turning on the cupcake, others want figurines on them. In Utah it seems our guests love to think outside the box with cupcakes and give something more special. Here are a few birthday cupcakes we did to satisfy what our client wanted.

The first cupcakes were made for Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl player Paul Soliai's wife. She was turning the big 3-0 so he wanted a special cake. We made a Louis Vuitton purse with some accessories, but to serve the guests we made customized 30th birthday cupcakes. Here they are:

Mother's day! One of my favorite days....sleeping in, breakfast in bed, getting that love note from my husband and the drawings from the kids. A day to relax! Oh wait, I have four kids under the age of 8.....well I get to relax some but because I own a cupcake shoppe I get cupcakes!

What Utah Mom doesn't like cupcakes? Or cake pops? Especially with kids, you get to share and talk while everyone enjoys a sweet treat. One of my favorite parts of my day, sitting around and just talking with my kids...usually over a brownie or cupcake.

It's Easter and a perfect time to get cake pops or cupcakes! Here are a couple of pictures, we have some pretty and glittered flower Easter cupcakes. These are Vanilla Bean based but we can put them on any flavor.

The cake pops can be ordered in gift baskets and you will get an assortment of Easter themed cake pops. Kids love them! We can also individually wrap them. Please call ahead if you want a gift basket. Thanks!

Sometimes a standard assortment of cupcakes isn't enough for a wedding, that is when our custom cupcakes enter....every bride has a different taste and that is why we love our business. Every wedding is unique and different. Sometimes bringing in a new challenge and other times it's simple, yet elegant.

With wedding cupcakes, most brides want some level of customization. This can be a simple one that has edible pearls or flowers on it to match the wedding colors. Or you can select our square cupcakes or even mini cakes. Below are some pictures of wedding cupcake and mini cake variations for Utah brides.

Red Velvet cupcakes...yum! This is one of our most popular cupcakes, we run out of Red Velvet almost every day. Our favorite Red Velvet moment....well I would say there are two of them.

First, when we opened up a couple of girls came into the cake shoppe. They were shopping at a Roberts Craft store close by and saw our sign and that we sold cupcakes! They came in, and proudly told us they frequent another cupcake bakery close by and loved it. One ordered red velvet and the other ordered the peanut butter chocolate swirl. The girl with the red velvet took one bite and almost right away said' "Oh my gosh, this is amazing!". Now that is the best compliment I could get.

The second time was when a bride and groom ordered 250 red velvet cupcakes for their wedding. It was the only flavor they picked! That was a busy day of baking :).

Our coconut key lime cupcake is a crowd favorite! It taste and looks amazing.

This vanilla cupcake has freshly squeezed limes and lime zest to give it that perfect hint of lime. There is a surprise in the middle of the cupcake as well....... a small amount of lime filling......so so good.

It has a coconut buttercream frosting and the garnishes include a lime wedge and coconut shreds.

Now that the taste buds are warmed up....let's see what they say.

In Utah, cupcakes are becoming a popular request for weddings. A lot of brides are considering getting cupcakes for their wedding guests so they have a variety to select from....plus the cost per serving is usually less! Along with the cupcakes, the bride and groom will get a 6 inch fondant covered cake to sit on top of a cupcake tower.

These cupcakes can be customized and designed how you like. Most brides like a simple flower or edible pearls placed on top but others will pay a little more to have the perfect cupcake. The picture above is from a wedding that had a beach theme. The cupcakes have an assortment of seashells (white chocolate) on them. The display included a coral with cupcakes place around and on top of it. The 'sand' is brown sugar :). The bride loved it!!

Another option for a cupcake display at your wedding is below. This is a cupcake stand that we created and have used for a few different weddings. The colors can be changed as needed but I love the damask look:

Businesses in Utah are constantly looking for ways to show appreciation to their clients and even their employees. We get a lot of calls from corporate event planners looking to do something a little different than the donuts or Smith's bakery cake. A lot of them prefer the basic assorted cupcakes with no design added but a popular request is the cupcake that has a logo or something similar to represent what they are celebrating.

Recently a company was celebrating their 25th anniversary and needed a dessert. After giving them a few options, they opted for an assortment of cupcakes with a fondant circle with a '25' on top.

Another company requested cupcakes and a small cake to celebrate how one of their IT employees was being recognized at a large national technology trade show.  The business event had about 4 dozen assorted cupcakes and the small cake on top had the companies logo on top.

There are many ways to show appreciation and there is nothing better than some sweets! Especially if it's a cupcake or a customized logo cake......
